Singtime in Paris
March 23, 2014
Cuesta College Performing Arts Center
Our spring concert featured music from the City of Light spanning five centuries. We went from troubadour love songs of the 16th century — to classical songs by Fauré and Boulanger from the 19th & 20th centuries — to cabaret songs by Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf. To enliven the program, we included songs from musical theatre set in Paris, including Fifty Million Frenchmen by Gershwin and Gigi by Lerner & Loewe. Canzona was joined by the accordion player Duane Inglish of Café Musique to add a true Gallic flavor to the afternoon. Vive l’amour and Ooh la la!
